Win Various Prizes - Ends 21/02

OK, my team are 1 of 10 finalists in the Buried Ransom competition over on Facebook and we are going to run a competition with some fab prizes to help us to win. We are not very comfortable about offering an incentive for our votes, but Film Feed (who are running the competition) have quite publicly announced that this is an OK thing to do and as we gained 170+ votes just from the support of our friends and family, we have now fallen behind to the other team by 60+ votes so thought we would offer a competition to try and catch up.

What can you win?
5 guaranteed prizes (5 guaranteed winners) from our prize bundle
1 prize bundle awarded to 1 winner *if* we win the competition
1 place on the Survival course (as we have 1 spare place) to 1 winner *if* we win the competition

How do you win?
Well a few simple steps will gain you entry into this competition:
1) Press the 'Like' button on the Film Feed page CLICK HERE
2) Click 'Like' under our group photo CLICK HERE
3) Post a comment below with your name on Facebook (so we can verify if you have liked our groups photo), a link to your Facebook profile or Twitter username or another way of contacting you should you win. In the comment, please also let us know if you would like to be entered to win the extra place on the Survival course - it will be somewhere between Liverpool and Bristol as that is where we are based - just put COUNT ME IN

What are the prizes?
1x Place on the Survival course *if* we win
1x Big prize bundle *if* we win
5x Guaranteed prizes (regardless of if we win or lose) to 5 separate winners

So a total of 7 prizes (7 winners) to be won if we win, or 5 to be won if we don't win. So you can't lose (well, unless you're not a winner)!

Some of the items to be won include an England football iPhone cover, iPod Nano superclip, mini DVD lens cleaner for camcorders, automatic paper clip dispenser, gummy digital watch, Belkin Gender Changer, pink leather National Lottery ticket holder, light blue leather card holder, bottle of wine, bottle of perfume, bottle of aftershave and more - our team are sponsoring the prizes as we really, really would love to win this course.

For extra entries, you can invite your friends and ask them to comment here and say you got them to 'Like' the competition - 1 extra entry for each person you get to 'Like' our group photo.

Win A Case Of Wine & My 3 Favourite Love Tunes Ends 28/02

OK, I am entering a fab competition from Price Minister using this blog post to try and win a pair of iPhone 4 mobile phones for my husband and son. By commenting on this post, you will not only be helping me to win, because I am also offering a case of wine to 1 lucky person who follows my blog and comments on this post by 28th February 2011. UK only eligible to win, but all welcome to comment. Leave your comment and your Twitter username or Facebook profile link or some other way of contacting should you win.

OK my blog post and entry into the competition... I have to list my 3 favourite love songs with a 200 word summary (of each I think - I am checking on this so post might get modified). So here goes:

My favourite category of CDs on Price Minister is the reggae section as this is my favourite type of music - http://www.priceminister.co.uk/nav/Music_CD/f3/Reggae is where you can find it too.

1) Has got to be You're The First, The Last, My Everything by the amazing and much missed musical wonder, Barry White. Why? Because it's a song that defines love - about meeting that one special person you know you are going to spend the rest of your life with - it just makes you want to curl up into your partners arms the minute you hear it. It describes the feelings you get when you fall in love with someone - "You're my reality, yet I'm lost in a dream"  -  it's that feeling - that it's just a dream you don't want to wake up from because you are so happy.

2) A very close second is (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher - the fabulous sound of the much missed Jackie Wilson. Why? This is a really feel good song - not just about love though it is uplifting and feel good in life in general - every time you hear it, you can't help but sing and dance along as it is so upbeat. Again, in terms of love, it is a song about meeting that someone who just completes you and makes your life better. Describing how you once felt down and lonely - "Now once I was down hearted, disappointment was my closest friend, but then you came and it soon departed, and you know, he never showed his face again" - maybe that you'd had some disappointment in past relationships maybe and were feeling lonely until you met your special person.

3) My third may seem a little out of place but I will explain later - Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom by The Vengaboys is my third choice. Why? Well, me & the hubby (then boyfriend) used to listen to this a lot when we first met and moved in together back in 1999. It's not at all related to love in any way, and maybe a little dirty sounding rather than romantic ("Boom, boom, boom, boom, I want you in my room, let's spend the night together, from now until forever" and "Boom, boom, boom, boom, I want a double boom, let's spend the night together, together in my room"), but hey, I was only 16 and him 19 at the time, so you have to forgive us lol. There really is no accounting for taste in music at that age! To be honest, I was a massive fan of The Vengaboys, but I think the amount I used to play this song over and over may have annoyed Paul at the time lol - I think he started off liking it and ended up sick of it!

WINNER: @needaphone

Congratulations! Please send me your address via Facebook or Twitter to claim your prize within 72 hours.

Seven Things About Me

I was tagged my @melspur from Twitter on her blog to give this a go - I am not the most interesting person ever, but I will give it a go...

1. I am 28 years old and I have been married to my husband, Paul, 31 since Valentine's Day 2000. He was my best friend's penpal and she invited him over to a party (he is originally from Alresford, Hampshire) on 15th May 1999, we clicked and then from there we never looked back. Several month later, he moved here to Liverpool and we got married on Valentine's Day (14th February) 2000. We have an 8 year old son called David and we plan for more in the future.

2. My claim to fame is that I have been in the Liverpool Echo twice - once when I was a teenager doing a book review with my best friend and another person for our school and the other time was a special on how me and Paul were the youngest couple getting married on Valentine's Day (I was 17 and he was 20).

3. I have a massive interest in the paranormal, UFOlogy and all similar things. I intend to take accredited courses in UFOlogy and Parapsychology in the near future in the hope that I can expand my self-taught knowledge further and maybe even write for a publication on those topics or start my own publication. After all, I am a budding writer - I enjoy writing short stories, poetry, and of course, blogging.

4. I am fascinated with Ancient Egypt. Even now, Egypt is a country with a rich and mysterious culture. But, the main thing for me is how something so astonishing and amazing, i.e. a pyramid could have a) been built so magnificently when technology now could not even duplicate it and b) how they have stood the test of time. I aspire to visit the Great Pyramids at some time in my life, hopefully soon. I also want to take a course in Egyptology and maybe even Archaeology as I have toyed with the idea on many occasions of doing this on a professional basis.

5. I am a massive sci-fi fan. My favourite programme ever being The X-Files, for which I made my own fan forum at http://www.TheXFilesStory.info which has unfortunately been spammed to death despite my best attempts of preventing it! I collect anything to do with it - I have all of the VHS (video) box sets, DVD box sets, trading cards (including some specials, but still a long way short of a full set), magazines, comics, signed photo's, clocks, watches, figures - you name it, I've got it. Despite watching many TV programmes in my life, I have only ever found 3 that I would call favourites - 1) The X-Files 2) Medium 3) ReGenesis - I am very fussy and particular when it comes to favourites.

6. I collect autographs. I have a massive selection - anything from my favourite TV programme stars to footballers, rugby players etc. I've been writing off for them and collecting then since I was about 8 years old!

7. Other random tidbits worth giving a mention as I can't think of anything significant to note: a) I have never been on holiday abroad (as you can't really count Wales as it is still in the UK) - I have never been on a plane b)I am scared of heights c) I recently became a keen fan of growing my own fruit and vegetables d) I am a budding entrepeneur e) I collect coins f) I have recently become an obsessive comper g) I am very opinionated h) I am a bit of a conspiracy theorist at times i) I enjoy cooking j) I collect Monopoly board games k) I enjoy horror films - the gorier the better

I am now supposed to tag some people to give it a go, but I am not one to tag people in things like this, so I just hope instead that some people will follow suit and we can all learn something about each other.

Is The End Of The World Coming?

You know, I've been wondering - could the end of the Earth or at least of human life be imminent?

There have been some very bizarre going's on in the last few months that have me wondering...

Just a few months ago, there were a number of volcanic eruptions - including volcanoes that have been dormant for a very long time.

Recently, there have been reports of many dead crows and other birds falling from the skies and over 2,000,000 (2 million) fish found dead in one place alone.

This just doesn't seem right to me. And, on top of that, here in the UK, we have seen more snow in the last few weeks, than in the last few years. There have also been a couple of earthquakes detected too which is very, very unusual for the UK.

I'm wondering if something is going on at the core of the Earth that we don't know about which is causing all of this to happen?

I don't know if this is down to the damage caused by us careless, selfish human beings, or if it is simply that the Earth is over-populated and was never designed to have so many beings on it at once and the overload is causing a damage or worse still, a complete shutdown.

I also wonder if some scientists are aware of this too, but the governments in various countries have quietened them to save panic (or more likely to cover their own asses).

In fact, speaking of a government cover up... This leads me back to a post I did last year at the first outbreak of Swine Flu. What if the government knew what was happening to the planet at that time and so Swine Flu was a way of population control as a last ditch attempt to try and stop it from happening? Even if that is the case, who gives them the right to play God?

I bet if the shit hits the fan, the governments' and anyone they consider important have several space shuttles at the ready to take them off to the moon they colonized on many years ago - think about, the US and Russia and even now the UK (amongst other places I think?) all have million or billion pound space programmes - do we really believe they still haven't progressed any further than their faked moon landing 50-odd years ago?
