FOOTBALL: Liverpool vs PSG (YB)

I was really looking forward to this message and it certainly did not disappoint!

I was very shocked to see Sturridge in the starting eleven - he is the nowhere man despite having been in the team for so long, but he scored the opener, a well taken goal.

And so far this season, Salah has been disappointing, he just seems to have lost his touch.

A silly challenge in the 36th minute led to us getting a penalty and Milner put it away nicely, even though the keeper went the right way, he couldn't keep it out!

Then Meunier scored for PSG, a well taken goal.

Liverpool played brilliantly, both attacking and in defense. For the total value of the PSG team, they weren't exactly brilliant in my opinion. Their best players for me would be Cavani, Mbappe and Thiago Silva. Neymar is nothing but disappointing and one seriously overrated player! He was just as rubbish for Brazil during the World Cup in the summer!

In the second half, Mbappe scored a brilliant goal to level the playing field and with not long left in the match, it looked like we'd have to settle for the draw.

But in stoppage time, in swooped Firmino with a brilliant late goal to win us the game! And I think we really deserved that win as we were the better team for the majority of the game. And Firmino's celebration was just brilliant!

FAMILY: The Great Brick Adventure & Crosby Beach (YB)

I was lucky enough to win family tickets to The Great Brick Adventure here in Liverpool from @arrivanorthwest on Twitter and it even included a family day ticket for their buses too!

Marley was really looking forward to going as he loves Lego and he was excited to see the massive things made out of Lego.

The first area was all of the huge Lego animals. We came across Linus the Lion first - it took 4 people 400 hours and a total of 65,440 bricks to make him!

Then we looked around at all the other Lego animals, some of which I've put photo's of below - Waldo the Warthog (who took 4 people 71 hours and 14,170 bricks to make), Zaria the Juvenile Zebra (who took 3 people 180 hours and 21,630 bricks to make), the Crocodile who was trying to eat Marley and the Tiger who wanted David and Marley for dinner!

Marley had a go at making some of the parts for the Harriet the Hippo they were making!

Then David and Marley both got a personalised Lego minifigure as souvenirs. Marley decided his alter ego should have a big moustache and a top hat - it didn't much look like him at all! David went for a more realistic looking one!

After this, Marley had a little play in the big Lego pit before we went to see the mythical beasts. A couple of our favourites were the Hydra and the Minotaur...

We had a great time, but Marley has a very, very limited attention span and so soon got bored and wanted to go, though we did get to see everything anyway.

Because we had our family day pass for the bus, we decided to do something else to fill in some more day, so we got the bus from the city centre to Crosby so we could go to the beach - Marley and David love the beach and it gave me and Paul the chance to finally see the art installation Another Place by Antony Gormley.

We had a walk on the beach  and had a look at Another Place first...

Then we had a sit & play in the sand...

Then Paul and David helped make Marley a car out of sand!

Overall we had a great day out!

FOOTBALL: Liverpool vs Crystal Palace (YB)

Second match of the season and another win for us, this time against Crystal Palace.

Not entirely convincing in the match, but we mostly had it under control. Keita performed really well as did Van Dijk. Salah seemed a bit off his game though.

It was the first proper opportunity to see how Alisson performed and he was strong and confident when challenged and made a couple of brilliant saves.

Brilliantly taken penalty by Milner at the stroke of half time, the keeper had no chance. And a brilliant last minute goal from Mane in the 92nd with the assist from Salah.

Again, disappointed not to see Shaqiri play as I think he could be a vital player in the team, but we'll see how it goes.

Keep it up! YNWA!

FOOTBALL: Liverpool vs West Ham (YB)

What a great start to the new season for us with a sensational 4-0 over West Ham!

No less than us fans have come to expect, that Mo Salah opened the scoring in the 19th minute. With Mane adding a second just before half time and a third just after half time. Sturridge came on as a sub and managed to score the fourth just seconds after coming on.

Alexander-Arnold was amazing for us last season, but he wasn't at the top of his game today. He made some very disappointing crosses into the box that way overshot everyone.

We didn't get to see much from Alisson in goal as West Ham were never really a threat, but he seemed comfortable on the rare occasion there was any danger.

It's been a long time since we've seen much of Sturridge, but he definitely made an impact after being subbed on. I can't see him becoming a part of the first team as a regular though as I feel he is outclassed by Salah, Mane & Firmino.

It was great to see Keita in action for the first time. He definitely made his presence felt in midfield in our first match of the season. I'm looking forward to seeing how he performs in the next matches too.

I was disappointed not to see Shaqiri in the starting XI though. He made quite the impact when he came on as a sub.

Wijnaldum played brilliantly, but was consistently disappointing in front of goal with several missed opportunities.

Van Dijk and Gomez did well in defense.

Looking forward to our next match vs Crystal Palace next Monday...

FOOTBALL: Liverpool Summer Transfers (YB)

Well, with all the excitement of the World Cup, I've neglected to post about Liverpool!

Well, we haven't had a lot of new players in thus far. Keita has finally arrived and I'm looking forward to watching him in action when the new season starts.

And Fabinho is interesting, I'm interesting to see his partnership at the back with Van Dijk and wondering who else will be partnering them at the back.

And now Shaqiri joining us is exciting. Seeing Shaqiri play at previous World Cups, I always hoped we'd buy him. He always got bought into my teams in FIFA on the XBox 360/PS4. I think he can be a great addition as the playmaker for Salah, Mane and Firmino. I'm glad to see he's signed on!

The goalkeeper situation is still a bit up in the air. Loads of speculation, but nothing doing so far. At the start of last season, I thought Karius was even worse than Mignolet, but as the season progressed, I noticed a major improvement. Only to be let down in the Champions League final. I'm undecided as to my opinion on him. I don't know if Klopp should stick with him or find a replacement. I think the majority of fans have lost faith though, so as much for himself as for the team, maybe we should be looking at a replacement.

FOOTBALL: Champions League Final 2018 (YB)

Well, that didn't go as I'd hoped!

I expected a better show from Liverpool. I cannot believe the stupid mistake Karius made giving away that silly goal to Benzema!

And the foul on Salah by Ramos was clearly deliberate. But, just because Salah was injured, we still should have payed better.

You can't help but wonder if the foul from Ramos on Karius was deliberate too! Maybe it affected his decision making?

Liverpool were by the far the better team to start with, we were really taking the game to Real Madrid, but as soon as Salah went off injured, thins went downhill from there.

Mane's goal straight after the silly Benzema goal, was a great comeback to level, but we were sheer outclassed overall.

And in light off everything, even though I'm a Liverpool supporter, you've got to admit that overhead goal from Gareth Bale was nothing if not genius!

The game wasn't really the thrilling, spectacular game I had been expecting though, and I really hope the CL cup was coming home to Liverpool.

Still, we're in it again next year, so let's hope we do better!

FOOTBALL: Showing Our Support For LFC (YB)

Sharing a photo of Marley with my fellow LFC supporters...

I reckon one day he could play for Liverpool! You should see his skills on the ball! He's had skill since he first kicked a ball when he was 1 year old.

I used to play football as a kid & teen and I can spot skill. He has a great kick, accuracy and ball control. Watch out for him in 15 years or so lol 😜

FOOTBALL: Liverpool vs AS Roma: 1st Leg Semi-Finals CL (YB)

Watched the match last night. Was totally impressed by how Liverpool played until the end. I'd have to admit, I was worried Roma were going to close the gap even further.

However, weve got a good 3-0 lead even if Roma do have 2 away goals.

Hopefully the pressure of being away from home won't get to the players and if we can get a couple of away goals of our own, that'll further bridge the gap for Roma to beat us.

I feel we were so close to being about 8-0, especially with the 2 sitters Sadio Mane missed in the first half.

There were great goals from future LFC legend Mo Salah. And nothing to take away from magnificent goals from Firmino and Mane too.

Hopefully we'll be making it to the Champions League final against Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.

Let's hope Liverpool will be the ones lifting the cup. As the last English team in the CL, I hope all of England is cheering them on, even rival supporters.

Maybe next year we'll be taking the PL by storm even more too!

What's your predictions for final score after the second leg? I'm going with 4-7 agg, but I think we'll be through to the final.

FOOTBALL: Liverpool FA Cup Defeat By West Brom (YB)

As a huge Liverpool fan, I'm sure along with fellow fans, words can't really express how I feel about us getting knocked out at the 4th round of the FA Cup by West Brom!

Klopp has done some great work with the team, but clearly not well enough. We should be much improved, but we're not...

Van Dijk is a a great addition to our defense, but as a collective, our defense is a shambles! The defensive responsibility can't rest on one play, but the blame can't rest on a single player either, it's the defense as a whole. Their lack of communication, their lack of co-ordination and their inability to quickly close down danger. Van Dijk has been a welcome addition, but the defenders need to work as an in-tune team to make vital challenges and clearances.

And don't even get me started on goalkeepers! I cannot fathom why we have yet to bring in a decent one. Both Mignolet and Karius just don't cut it for me. Mignolet could let a goal in if it landed in his hands, whereas Karius might get there but just hit it back to the opposition so they can have another try as he doesn't seem capable of holding the ball! His answer is to hit it with his hands and hope it gets the job done! We definitely need a reliable keeper 👐

Alexander-Arnold... I think, one day, he could be a great player for us, but he shouldn't be in the first team yet. I feel he's too immature. While he clearly has great skills and is a very versatile player, for me, he's just not first team material yet.

Today, on Twitter, I saw everyone having a go at Moreno. Now, I know before this season, he really was up to much, but until he got injured, I thought he was doing amazing, I've been really impressed with him this season. He never gives up, makes important challenges, makes well structured passes and creates chances. He was clearly off his game tonight, but can we not give him the benefit of the doubt that he is still recovering from injury and maybe shouldn't have been back yet? I actually read that he himself had said he didn't think he'd be playing this match as he wasn't quite right yet ⚽

Mane... What happened to the Mane of last season? He holds up the ball too long, cowers away from shooting opportunities and makes stupid judgement calls.

Salah... He can be amazing, but he doesn't have the natural prowess of a striker. He's fast, he scores, but is that enough? He never has much power behind shots, so fails to score in situations where someone like Firmino has the power to convert. His passing accuracy isn't amazing either and he often loses the ball when challenged. I'm not disputing the fact that he has put away a load of goals for us, but more that he has also failed to put away a load too. He scored a decent goal tonight at least.

Back to tonight's game. Firmino... He shouldn't have been missing a penalty. Maybe he wasn't the right person for the job? He also seemed off his game tonight even if he did score the opening goal.

The team tonight were all over the shop. The last 10 minutes or so we were doing well, but it was too little, too late.

VAR saved us from an even more humiliating 5-2 defeat. Because Mignolet was sleeping as all 5 goals passed by him 😴

We should have won this match There can be no excuses, no ifs, no buts...
