David's 10th Birthday

Yesterday, 27th September, was David's 10th birthday. I can't believe how quickly time passes, or more precisely, it's hard to believe my "little" boy is now 10 years old... Double figures and everything! In fact, thinking about, September 2013 will be his first year at senior school. Time really does fly. He's growing up so quickly...

Anyway, back to his birthday... I was going to just buy him a ready made cake from the supermarket, but it seems he liked my home made treasure chest cake for his 9th birthday last year, that he challenged me to making him one again this year.

His favourite TV programme is SpongeBob SquarePants, so I decided to make him a SpongeBob themed cake. It took a long time to make, but I was quite pleased with the result. It made it all worthwhile when I saw his big smile when he saw it! I knew that if he was happy with it, it was all worth it...

David wasn't too impressed that his birthday fell on a school day again, he checks the calendar every year in the hope that his birthday will be at a weekend! He'll have to wait until 2014 though! The advantage for me to him being at school is that it gave me time to get his birthday treats ready.

David's birthday cards.

We had a mini party for him, just David and my sister, Latisha, but he was happy enough. We couldn't afford anything big and grandeur. I made him some car sponge fingers, apple cakes, snake sandwiches, tri-colour jellies with cream, ice cream cone cakes, sausage rolls and cheese rolls along with his main birthday cake (all with the help of Paul thankfully or it wouldn't taken up more day than possible!)...

He played some games with Tisha and they had some music and did some singing and dancing together and he had lots of fun...

Having just finished doing the Cha-Cha Slide...

We were all totally shattered at the end of the day. We got David a laptop for his birthday. It wasn't a new one as we couldn't afford that, and it certainly wasn't his iPad he had hoped for (sadly I didn't win one for him), but he was really happy as his old laptop is several years old and the keys don't work and it's generally quite defective. We got him lots of PC games too which made him happy. We also got him a couple of Lego sets - a jet and a dinosaur set. He got money off his Grandma (my Mum), money off his 2nd Uncle & Aunt (my Uncle & Aunt) and the new LFC (Liverpool football club) home shirt off his Granny & Grandad (Paul's parents). He seemed very happy with all his presents and now he can look forward to going and spending his money at the weekend too!
